Biography
I am a person. Born in Vancouver, raised in London, educated wherever I happen to be, and currently living in London, Ontario.
I've been making one thing or another for as long as I've lived. I've long been enchanted by the narratives and the patterns that run through almost every facet of our experiences. I lived most of my life wanting to be a writer because I could explore the world and create new ones with nothing but a brain and a pen.
Despite being perfectly proficient in math and science, I decided early on that I was an artist, and stuck to that path. Drama club ohyea. So I wound up at University studying English and Theatre and Film. While there I got the persuasive essay thing down, hosted a radio show, and wrote a pretty awesome play with some of my friends.
I've got along pretty well with computers for much of my life, and somewhere in the middle of those University days I started dabbling with web design and coding. As I dug deeper I realized that the relationship between user and website is not so different from that fascinating give and take between an audience and an artist. I could explore the world and create new ones with nothing but a brain, a text-editor and a web server, oh and everyone else needs a computer.
Communication, whether with computers or people, is what I do. It may sound vague, but typography, branding, coding, narrative and usability can have a fair bit of overlap if you let them. I enrich my abilities in one by exploring all the others and making connections.
The most exciting thing about working on the web is that there's so much room to build awesome, progressive, helpful, meaningful work, in small ways or big ways... all without needing to chop down an old-growth forest to make room for it. I want to do my part to keep the internet being used for good.
Fun Facts! — I triple 3 times love bicycles! Can't get me enough of those obscure bands and movies, because while originality ain't everything, it sure is an important part of quality! Air at night is laced with some kinda magic.
